CASA GRANDE — Art is a medium for prayer, contemplation and spiritual growth, whether it is engaged at the level of the individual or community, according to a press release from artist and instructor Saraiya Kanning, who will guide students through “Art and Soul Series” sessions.
The first session, entitled “Art for the Spiritual Awakening,” is a class in which students will participate in a number of watercolor painting prompts, all through the lens of spiritual reflection and search.
“We’ll explore the meditative and healing capacities of art-making while forging new bonds of friendship through creativity. We’ll also tempt you by reviewing the subject matter for the remaining episodes in the Art and Soul Series, which will be available for you to join,” the press release said.
The course is for beginners through intermediate-level artists.
“We will briefly cover how to use watercolor, but not linger too long. Please email the instructor for suggested videos if you wish to practice a bit before the class,” the press release said.
The class is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Cost to participate is $20. Register online at drbi.org.
