CASA GRANDE — A 41-year-old woman was shot in the hand and face early Monday morning and airlifted to a Chandler hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Thomas Anderson, spokesman for the Casa Grande Police Department, a 45-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the shooting but he was not yet charged in any way.

Anderson said police were still “working the scene” Monday morning in the 1100 block of East Bonita Place in Casa Grande. The outside of the home was decorated for Halloween, but the police crime tape was real Monday morning.

He said the woman was believed to have been shot in the hand about 4:22 a.m. and the round also hit her in the side of the face. He said police do not believe the injuries to be life-threatening. She was initially transported to Banner Casa Grande Medical Center and then airlifted to a Chandler hospital due to the facial injuries, he said.

Anderson said the altercation between them appears to be a domestic situation but investigators aren’t sure yet. He said both the man and the woman willingly came out of the house when police arrived at the scene.
