QUARTZSITE — For the second time this week, lanes of Interstate 10 had to be closed down as the result of an accident involving a semi tractor-trailer, authorities said.
Thursday morning the eastbound lanes of I-10 near Quartzsite were closed following a semi rollover.
The Department of Public Safety advised motorists to use the U.S. 60 exit to get around the accident site to Phoenix while crews tended to the truck which was carrying a load of strawberries. Details of how the truck rolled were not available, but the freeway lanes were reopened by 2 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
The accident is near the site of a fatal pileup Monday that involved 14 vehicles as a dust storm swept the area.
It is not known if weather contributed to Thursday morning’s accident. The National Weather Service had issued a wind and dust advisory for the area Wednesday night.
