CASA GRANDE — A Casa Grande man is facing drug charges and resisting arrest after trying to hide drugs in his car from Casa Grande detectives.

According to Pinal County Superior Court records, Frank S. Pineda Jr., 30, is charged with possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

At 8:15 a.m. on Nov. 11, two Casa Grande detectives were investigating a tip about drug sales near an apartment complex in the 100 block of East Date Avenue. When officers arrived they noticed an SUV parked near one of the apartments. They found Pineda asleep in the front passenger seat.

According to court records, when detectives woke Pineda up, he allegedly started “jumping” around the interior of the vehicle trying to hide things from his pockets.

When officers were finally able to get Pineda out of the vehicle, he allegedly resisted being taken into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed three bags with a total of 12 grams of methamphetamine packaged for sale, a set of digital scales and a very realistic-looking black BB gun.
