CASA GRANDE – A Pinal County Sheriff’s deputy suffered minor injuries when a man struck him in the head while trying to flee.
According to Pinal County Superior Court records, at 10:38 a.m. on July 17, the Casa Grande Police Department received a call of a man trespassing on private property and allegedly huffing freon.
A Pinal County deputy was in the area and stopped to assist officers. When the deputy tried to arrest Isaiah L. Thomas, 24, Thomas allegedly struck the deputy in the head with a closed fist. After a struggle, Thomas was able to get away from the deputy and evaded other law enforcement officers by jumping over fences and walls in the neighborhood.
After a search, officers were able to finally locate Thomas and take him into custody.
Thomas was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and two counts of criminal trespass.
