July Walking Club
Few older adults in the U.S. achieve the minimum recommended amount of physical activity. Lack of physical activity contributes to many chronic diseases that occur in older adults as well as obesity. For substantial health benefits, the guidelines recommend that most older adults participate in at least 10 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity. University of Arizona AZ Health Zone of Cooperative Extension Pinal County, Pinal County Public Health and Casa Grande Community Recreation Center will be hosting a Senior Walking Club for the month of July at 1905 N. Peart Road. The goal of this project is to connect with seniors and offer them a social support group to encourage physical activity. The Walking Club will meet every Thursday in July from 9 to 9:30 a.m. You do not have to be a member of the Casa Grande Community Recreation Center to participate in this activity. For more information and to register, contact Mary Gonzales, community outreach assistant, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Come walk at your own pace. Participants will receive physical activity education and giveaways.
