American Legion Auxiliary
The American Legion Auxiliary meets on Tuesday at 1 p.m. for lunch followed by a meeting at 2 p.m. at Mimi’s, 1005 N. Promenade Pkwy. Attendees will learn what’s new in the auxiliary. School supplies are being collected.
Phelps to speak at Kiwanis
Former Major League Baseball player and World Series champion Ken Phelps will be the featured speaker at the Kiwanis Club of Casa Grande meeting on Thursday. The meeting begins at 7 a.m. and will be held virtually via Zoom.
Phelps played for Arizona State Sun Devils before his professional career. He is a member of the ASU Baseball Hall of Fame and was named to the College World Series All Star Team in 1976. During an 11-year baseball career, he played from 1980-1990 for six different teams, but he played primarily with the Seattle Mariners. Phelps eventually played a major role on the 1984 Mariners and went on to enjoy a successful career. Phelps won a World Series championship with the Oakland A’s in 1989. CHAMMP Prevention Coalition
CHAMMP is a prescription misuse prevention coalition, developed to educate older adults and their caregivers about the safe use, storage and disposal of medications, resulting in safer communities for all ages. CHAMMP meets monthly from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the third Thursday starting this week until June 17, 2021, to develop innovative ideas to assist seniors and their caregivers in safe medication management, including opioids. All ages may attend. CHAMMP welcomes new ideas and information sharing, as this gives the coalition a well-rounded view on what’s happening and ways to meet goals.
