CASA GRANDE — A 42-year-old man was hospitalized after he was attacked by three pit bulls Sunday morning near Casa Grande, officials said.
Pinal County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched around 10 a.m. Sunday to a home on West Hopi Drive after a 911 call reported that Lorenzo Hidalgo, 42, had been attacked by three dogs. The animals reportedly lunged at Hidalgo’s throat.
“The victim reportedly went to the address to check on his grandmother who had fallen down,” a statement from PCSO said.
The family told authorities that the dogs were unfamiliar with Hidalgo.
Hidalgo was airlifted to a Valley hospital.
The three dogs were apprehended and placed in the custody of Pinal County Animal Care and Control, the PCSO statement said.
A statement posted on Facebook by Kaitlyn Hidalgo asked for prayers for her father, the victim.
“He’s hurting badly and has lots of stitches and staples,” the comment reads. “He lost lots of blood and had a bite in his neck they’re worried about. He said he’s not okay and hurting and so just pray please.”
