CASA GRANDE — Sifu George Mosson, a ninth-degree black belt in Chinese Kenpo and winner of four world championships and 14 international championships, will offer an eight-week self-defense class for children and adults age 7 and older.

Classes will be taught at Thrive Academy. Cost for the eight-week session is $100.

After the eight weeks, those who choose to stay in the class and want to continue to learn will be asked to start working toward colors, a notice about the class said.

Assisting Mosson with the class are some of his black belt students, including Mark Steuver and Gilbert Tarango, who are known for giving back to their community, the announcement said.

Mosson has taught the art for years. Some of his students have gone on to win tournaments and competitions. Some of his current students participated in a tournament on Saturday, and they often win first-, second- and third-place trophies.

Classes will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Fridays beginning Dec. 4 at Thrive Academy, 702 E. Cottonwood Lane, Building F.
