CASA GRANDE — The Sunrise Optimist Club has named two McCartney Ranch Elementary fifth graders as Students of the Month for February.
The students, who were recognized at a breakfast meeting of the Sunrise Optimist Club on Thursday and at the February Governing Board meeting, are:
Madison Torres, who is in Courteney McCrary’s classroom. Her parents are Andrew and Kathy Torres. Madison is described by her teacher as “the sweetest young lady. She is kind and caring to everyone around her. And, while Madison is on the quiet side, she is always willing to help her peers. Madison is always on task and a hard worker. She gets her work done in a timely manner and puts forth great effort every time. Madison is greatly appreciated in our classroom.”
Augustine Garza, who also is in McCrary’s classroom. His father is Paul Garza. Augustine is described by his teacher as “a hardworking student with an excellent attitude. He is eager to learn, asks questions if he needs clarification and takes learning very seriously. Augustine has an outgoing personality. He is a great helper within the classroom and strives to be the best he can be. Augustine is a good friend, student and role model. He embodies what is expected of a McCartney Ranch Mustang. Augustine is a joy to have in the classroom and has a lot of potential for growth.”
