Members of the Desert Sky Mustang Club collected 500 cases of water that were donated to local organizations on June 26.

CASA GRANDE — The Desert Sky Mustang Club held its annual “Mission Possible” water drive, a collection effort aimed at providing water bottles for area organizations.

“Since the club was formed in 2012, every year members of the Desert Sky Mustangs are tasked with the collection and donation of cases of water so we can in turn donate them,” said club President John Mihalic. “Each year, our members take the challenge head-on and increase the amount donated year after year.”

This year, the group collected and donated 500 cases of water, with about 32 bottles per case, which was distributed on June 26.

“That’s 16,000 bottles of water,” Mihalic said.

The water was divided between the Casa Grande Food Bank, the Casa Grande Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety station in Casa Grande.

Several organizations contributed to the collection drive.

“Al Saffrahn, our vice president, continues to volunteer his time as well as his truck and trailer, which helps make this possible,” Mihalic said. “Walmart donated a $50 gift card that we used toward the purchase of water. Frito-Lay donated water and Gatorade as well as yummy snacks, which went to our awesome law enforcement (agencies). And all of our generous and amazing club members donated and supported the water drive.”
