CASA GRANDE — A Chandler woman is facing charges after she was allegedly found with the keys to a stolen vehicle in her pocket.

According to Pinal County Superior Court records, Phelicia M. Ruiz-Leal, 34, is charged with one count of theft of means of transportation.

At 1:09 a.m. on Feb. 24, a woman reported that she had found her boyfriend’s stolen vehicle at a local hotel in the 500 block of North Cacheris Court. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Mesa.

According to court records, Ruiz-Leal had allegedly called a relative asking her to meet her at the hotel to help her pay for a hotel room. The relative noticed the stolen car and called the girlfriend. The girlfriend arrived and confirmed the car belonged to her boyfriend and then called Casa Grande Police to help recover the vehicle.

When officers arrived, Ruiz-Leal allegedly fled onto the hotel property. When officers detained her they found the keys to the vehicle on her person.
