CASA GRANDE — A Casa Grande woman has died after she was struck by a truck while riding a mini-dirt bike, police said.
At around 3 p.m. on Friday 32-year-old Paula Tapia was riding a mini-dirt bike east along the edge of the roadway on Cottonwood Lane when she turned left directly in front of a utility truck that was traveling at 50 mph, Casa Grande Police spokesman Thomas Anderson stated in an email.
Tapia was not wearing any safety gear and the dirt bike was not registered or intended for street use, he said. Tapia was transported to Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, where she was declared dead at around 5 p.m.
The truck driver was not injured.
