MARICOPA — A 41-year-old Casa Grande man was killed in a rollover Monday morning on Interstate 10 near Riggs Road that closed the freeway in both directions for hours, authorities said.
Anthony Kittrell of Casa Grande was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman.
Eastbound Interstate 10 was closed at the Riggs Road exit at 5:15 a.m. as a result of the crash. It reopened at 8:25 a.m. The westbound lanes of I-10 remained open through the cleanup of the crash.
According to the DPS, the single-vehicle rollover killed Kittrell at milepost 171, blocking the eastbound lanes.
Those traveling east on I-10 were forced off the interstate at Riggs Road and onto State Route 347. During the closure, it was suggested by the Arizona Department of Transportation that people traveling from Phoenix to Tucson keep on SR 347 through Maricopa and onto I-8, then back to I-10.
