CASA GRANDE — A Casa Grande man is facing charges after he allegedly was found sitting in a stolen vehicle.

According to Pinal County Superior Court records, Jimmy L. Parker, 38, is charged with theft of means of transportation and refusing to give a truthful name to a law enforcement officer.

According to court records, at 12:35 p.m. on Jan. 14, a Casa Grande Police officer found Parker sitting in a white 2017 Kia Rio in the 700 block of West O’Neil Drive.

A check of the license plate number showed that it belonged to a 2013 Kia Rio.

When the officer spoke with the man, later identified as Parker, sitting in the car, the man allegedly identified himself as James Smith. The officer could not find a James Smith with the birthdate that Parker gave the officer in his database.

The officer then checked the vehicle identification number on the vehicle, which came back with a report of it being stolen out of Scottsdale.

As the officer was taking Parker into custody, he found Parker’s wallet, which had his driver’s license in it.
