CASA GRANDE — A Casa Grande man is facing charges after allegedly firing a gun into the air.
According to Pinal County Superior Court records, Jesus E. Vega Hernandez, 21, is charged with discharging a firearm within the city limits.
Casa Grande Police officers received a call of shots fired around 5:45 a.m. on June 5 in the 800 block of East Viola Street. The person making the call said they allegedly saw Vega Hernandez standing in the street talking to a group of people in a Toyota 4Runner.
The witness said Vega Hernandez allegedly began to yell at the people in the vehicle and the vehicle drove off. As the SUV was driving away, the witness said, Vega Hernandez pulled out a gun, pointed the weapon at the rear of the vehicle and then pointed the gun into the air and fired off four shots. The witness told officers they had surveillance video of the incident.
When officers arrived at the scene they found four bullet casings in front of Vega Hernandez’s home.
Vega Hernandez was taken into custody without incident and told officers that he did not have a confrontation with the people in the SUV. He allegedly said that he had just made a bad decision to fire the gun. A gun matching the description of the one the witness saw Vega Hernandez use was found in Vega Herandez’s home.
