CASA GRANDE — A Casa Grande man is facing charges after allegedly showing up at a teen’s home in an attempt to coerce her to have sex for marijuana.

According to Casa Grande Police Department reports, Julian Ellis, 18, was arrested on Sept. 4 on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a minor-luring and criminal trespass.

Police officers were called at 10:11 p.m. on Sept. 4 to a home on Kadota Avenue. A man at the home told officers that Ellis had arrived a few minutes earlier asking for a 15-year-old girl who lived at the home. The man told Ellis he had no reason to contact the teenager and asked Ellis to leave.

The man told officers that he and Ellis then got into a fight and Ellis allegedly pulled a gun. When the caller ran into the home to get his own gun, Ellis ran away from the home. A few minutes later, the man saw Ellis and another man drive past the house several times before hearing a gunshot.

Officers spoke with the teen, who told them that Ellis had allegedly been messaging her through Snapchat stating that he wanted to do sexual things with her. She told officers she did not reply to Ellis’ messages and never gave him her address. She thought that one of her friends may have given him her address. She also stated that she saw Ellis with a gun but could not describe the weapon.

Another witness at the house corroborated what the first man had told police about the fight with Ellis. He also said that he saw Ellis with a gun and that Ellis had pointed the gun out of the window of the car and shot at the house. This witness also could not describe the gun.

Officers searched the area but could not find bullet casings or damage to the home.

While officers were at the scene, another officer reported that he had detained Ellis at a convenience store on North Pinal Avenue. The man who fought with Ellis was transported to the store where he identified Ellis as the person he fought with. Ellis was transported to the police station for questioning.

At the police station, Ellis allegedly told officers he knew the teen was only 15 but he wanted to smoke marijuana with her and possibly have sex with her. He told officers that the girl had told him via Snapchat that if he would get her marijuana and $100 for her nails, she would have sex with him.

Ellis told officers when he arrived at the home two men jumped him and took his marijuana and the wax he brought over to smoke and then tried to get his chains and wallet. He said when the man he was fighting with at the house yelled for someone to get his gun from inside the house, the fight broke up and Ellis ran away.

Ellis then called a friend to come pick him up. As they drove past the home, his friend allegedly picked up a rock, threw it at the home and yelled for the people inside to come out and fight. Then Ellis and his friend drove away.

Officers confiscated cellphones from the teen and Ellis.
