CASA GRANDE — A homeless encampment in Casa Grande caught fire Thursday morning, sending up a large black plume of smoke visible across the city.
Casa Grande firefighters extinguished the blaze just after 8 a.m. at the homeless encampment located west of Roosevelt Avenue and Second Street. The fire was fueled by debris, tents, trees and shrubs. The area was searched by a firefighter for any occupants, but none was found.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
