CASA GRANDE — Casa Grande Valley Elks Lodge 1957 was awarded the prestigious title of “All American Lodge” after taking first place in a nationwide competition.
There are more than 2,000 Elks lodges in the United States, and Casa Grande placed first, ahead of second-place Ferndale, Michigan, and third-place Calabash, North Carolina, a press release from the lodge said.
The results were computed by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Grand Lodge of Chicago and were based on patriotism, participation, support and donations to the community, Elks charities and projects, according to the press release.
The award recognized the support and donations made by the local lodge, that included efforts for:
- local veterans
- food boxes
- blood drives
- youth programs, including local scholarships, Christmas shopping, Steele Research Center for Children, Arizona Youth Camp, drug prevention, Hoop Shoot, Soccer Shoot, swim lesson scholarships and dictionaries to third grade students.
- local organizations that received assistance from the lodge, including Seeds of Hope, Against Abuse, Casa Grande Food Bank, Helping, Hiring and Honoring Our Heroes of Pinal County and the Valley Humane Society.
“The support and recognition of our first responders is always a priority of the Elks. The Elks practice Americanism and our motto is ‘Elks Care/Elks Share,’” the press release said.
