CASA GRANDE — Police are investigating a fatal shooting Saturday night.

According to police, at 11:09 p.m. officers responded to several calls of shots fired and screaming in the 800 block of West Kingman Drive.

When officers arrived they found a woman lying on the ground and a man holding a gun near his chest in front of the home. Before officers could intervene, the man discharged the gun, striking himself in the chest.

The man, Thomas Jones, 34, of Casa Grande was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, Elle McGivney, 28, was transported by ambulance to Banner Casa Grande Medical Center, where she died of her injuries.

According to police, Jones and McGivney were engaged and had been living together. Their child was not injured in the shooting and is being taken care of by family.

Police are investigating the shooting.
