FLORENCE — The 26-year-old Casa Grande man who allegedly fled on foot from a crash that killed a 32-year-old motorcycle rider earlier this month was indicted on less serious charges than what was recommended by police.
According to court documents, Zander Kakar was indicted for leaving the scene of a fatal accident, causing serious physical injury or death and a left-turn violation.
Leaving the scene of a fatal accident is a felony, while the other two charges are misdemeanors.
Casa Grande Police arrested Kakar on suspicion of manslaughter, endangerment, failure to stay/hit-run with injuries and reckless driving.
Kakar is accused of failing to yield at Jimmie Kerr Boulevard and Earley Road, causing motorcycle rider Gerardo Nunez to hit the vehicle.
Nunez was taken to Banner Casa Grande Medical Center, where he died from the injuries.
After the collision, Kakar allegedly fled the scene of the crash on foot and was apprehended the next day in Casa Grande.
