CASA GRANDE — Two people have been arrested for trafficking a 13-year-old girl for sex.

Brooke Santiago, 39, from Casa Grande, was arrested on Sept. 9 on suspicion of child sex trafficking, sexual exploitation of a minor and prostitution.

Derrick Newman, 28, from Casa Grande, was arrested on Sept. 12 on suspicion of child sex trafficking, sexual conduct with a minor and pandering.

The charges against Santiago and Newman have been forwarded to the Pinal County Attorney’s Office for review.

On Sept. 9, Casa Grande Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a hotel in the 500 block of Cacheris Court and contacted Santiago and the 13-year-old, according to Casa Grande Police spokesman Thomas Anderson. During their investigation, officers discovered evidence that Santiago and her boyfriend, Newman, were allegedly involved in sex trafficking.

Detectives allegedly collected numerous items of physical and digital evidence, Anderson said. The teen was turned over to the custody of the Arizona Department of Child Safety.
