CASA GRANDE — Lucid Motors gives a behind-the-scenes tour of its Casa Grande plant in a five-minute video released Tuesday.

In the video, CEO Peter Rawlinson is joined by Vice President of Manufacturing Peter Hochholdinger at the factory, where they explore the body shop, paint shop and conclude their tour in general assembly.

“It’s amazing,” Rawlinson says as Hochholdinger shows him the process that the vehicles go through. During the video, the body of a car is shown after visiting the paint shop.

It was revealed that the vehicles go through three phases when putting paint on the car: primer, base and clear coat.

Rawlinson also shows where the general assembly takes place.

“It’s a game of parts,” Hochholdinger says. “You get all those parts together to the car and we final-assemble that.”

At the end of the tour, Rawlinson says he was blown away by the factory.

“It’s a fantastic achievement,” Rawlinson said. “It’s so exciting because we are getting closer and closer to start of true production.”

In February, Lucid Motors announced that due to COVID-imposed delays its first vehicles wouldn’t roll off the assembly line until the second half of 2021.
