MARICOPA — A Maricopa High School student has tested positive for COVID-19, and now two of the school’s teams are in quarantine.
The Maricopa Unified School District announced the positive case late Monday, the day the results of the COVID-19 test were released. No details were released about the student, but the announcement did state that members of the football and wrestling teams were among those determined to have been in close contact with the infected student.
As such, all players and coaches on those teams have been instructed to quarantine. The district said it made contact with all those affected before making the announcement.
The district also said it had closed off all areas where the student was present, and they either have been or will be cleaned and disinfected before they are re-opened.
