FLORENCE — Budget override questions for two Pinal County school districts lacked majority support in special elections held Tuesday, although more votes may be added Thursday.

Proposition 457 in the Maricopa Unified School District for a budget override continuation was trailing by 131 votes, while Proposition 458 for a budget override increase for the Santa Cruz Valley Union High School District in Eloy was trailing by 83 votes.

In results posted by the Pinal County Elections Department, MUSD's Prop. 457 received 3,340 "yes" votes, or 49.04%, to 3,471 "no" votes, or 50.96%.

SCVUHSD's Prop. 458 received 321 "yes" votes, or 44.28%, to 404 "no" votes, or 55.72%.

The Elections Department said updated totals would be posted Thursday, apparently to include the latest ballots received.
