CASA GRANDE — A high-speed chase by Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers Friday ended when the vehicle that was being pursued crashed into a guardrail on the exit to Trekell Road from Interstate 8.

The chase started around 10 a.m. near milepost 224 near Red Rock on Interstate 10 when a trooper tried to stop a vehicle traveling west for an equipment violation, said DPS spokesman Bart Graves. The vehicle, which had four people in it, fled from officers, eventually turning onto I-8 between Eloy and Casa Grande.

The driver then attempted to exit I-8 at Trekell Road and crashed into a guardrail along the exit ramp. The four people in the vehicle were taken into custody, Graves said. Two people in the vehicle were treated for head injuries.

The incident has been turned over to Eloy Police for further investigation.
