PHOENIX — State troopers have arrested a 19-year-old man wanted on a felony warrant for killing a pedestrian a year ago.
Tuesday, detectives from the Department of Public Safety Fugitive Apprehension Unit tracked the fugitive to a neighborhood near Southern Avenue in Phoenix, according to a press release. After conducting surveillance on the residence, detectives made contact with the fugitive and placed him under arrest in connection with a grand jury felony arrest warrant for manslaughter.
The suspect, Omar Vargas, was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail in Phoenix. He was indicted by a Maricopa County grand jury in January and faces charges of manslaughter and endangerment.
The charges stem from an April 2019 incident in which Vargas allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian in west Phoenix while driving impaired.
