ARIZONA CITY — At the Lady 9ers’ final event of the season, there was a catered luncheon held at the First Tee Villas hall.

There were lots of ladies in attendance, lots of announcements and prizes given along with a lot of tears because the club is in limbo about the fall season with the change in ownership at Arizona City Golf Course. The game of the day was Jelly Bean, which is played by the team being given a bag of four colored jelly beans that coordinate with the colored names on the scorecard.

After each hole is completed a jelly bean is picked out of the bag, and the score of the lady whose name is that color is used for that hole.

Winners were Carol Bassett, Nita Fry, Karen, and Donna Bladen with a score of 34, followed by Julie Wilcox, Joan Dunlop, Denise Kendrick and Sharon Taylor with 35. In a tie for third place with 36 were Kris Schlukebir, Sue Hager, Debbie Gilles and Sonia Corliss, and Sally Ross, Donna Wyatt, Precy White, Brenda Schroeder. Low putts were shared by Peggy Jackson, Precy White and Denise Kendrick, who all had 18. There were no chip-ins, so with it being the last day, the kitty for the chip-ins was given to Donna Bladen for her dedication in arranging and collecting for the luncheons.

The Club Champion tournament winners were also announced. In flight 2, low gross first was Sonia Corliss with 121. Second low gross was Joan Dunlop with 122. Low net first was Sharon Taylor with 73, followed by Wendy Manning with 74. In the gross pairings, Flight 1, second low net with 75 was Kris Schlukebir and first was Carol Bassett with 69. The first flight, second gross was Carol Spensley with 106. The club champion with 102 was Precy White.

Most improved in a group of over 40 players was Donna Bladen. Julie Ambrose, who had a hole-in-one, garnered the President’s Cup award.
