ARIZONA CITY — The Arizona City Lady Golfers had a full slate of activities in January.
The game of the day on Jan. 8 was to count the odd holes on the front nine and the even holes on the back nine. Golfers then subtracted one- half their handicap to arrive at their net score.
Paget Whitney won the first flight with a net 39.5. Cathy Chadsey finished in second place with 40.0 and Becky Hamilton scored 40.5 to win third place.
The second flight winner was Patty Clark who had a net 36.5. Sandy Chesley won second place with a net 38.5 and Diane Glennie took third place with 40.0.
Sheree Kemick won closest to the pin on number 8 and Diane Glennie had the best drive on 16.
The game of the day on Jan. 15 was to count the even holes on the front nine and the odd holes on the back nine minus half your handicap – the opposite of last week’s event.
Paget Whitney did it again. She scored 28.5 to win first flight. Sheree Kemick won second place with a net 29 and Cathy Chadsey scored 30 to finish in third place.
Marilyn Black and Jude Holden scored 27.5 to tie for first place in second flight and Patty Clark won third place with 28.5.
Marty Losee won closest to the pin on No. 8 and Ginger Hartse won closest to the pin on No. 16.
On Jan. 22, the Lady Golfers played a team game decided by drawing jelly beans from a bag. Everyone played her own ball and after finishing the hole, one of the players picked a jelly bean out of the bag. The colors were assigned at the start of the game and two holes (No. 8 and No. 16) were free. The team score is the player’s score whose color is chosen.
The team of Paget Whitney, Sharry Willard, Janet Burke and Cindy Kerr won first place with a score of 63
The second place team was Laurie Pederson, Cathy Chadsey and Sandy Freng with a score of 67.
The game of the day on Jan. 29 was 54 Quota. Golfers subtract their handicaps from 54 to arrive at their quota. They then earned points for birdies, pars, bogies and double bogies.
Cindy Kerr finished with ten points over her quota to win first place. Betsy Kozulla scored a plus 6 to win second place.
Sandy Chesley and Diane Glennie tied for third place with 2 points over their quota and Marty Losee wound up in fifth place with exactly her quota.
Mary Bishop won closest to the pin on #8 and Lou Ross won No. 16.
