CASA GRANDE — The Arizona Department of Public Safety has captured all of the occupants of a white pickup truck that fled from troopers in Pinal County Tuesday morning on Interstate 10.

At 7:27 a.m., a trooper attempted to stop a white Chevy pickup traveling west on I-10 at milepost 217 near Picacho, said DPS spokesman Bart Graves. The driver of the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed westbound on I-10.

Troopers pursued the vehicle into the Chandler area, where a DPS Ranger helicopter took charge of the pursuit and provided updates on the truck’s location to marked and unmarked DPS patrol vehicles in the area, he said.

The driver of the truck continued onto northbound Interstate 17 and exited at Seventh Street, Graves said. When the vehicle reached the area of Buckeye Road and Fourth Street, the occupants of the truck bailed out and ran onto various properties in the area.

DPS troopers and Phoenix Police officers were able to capture all three occupants of the vehicle, including the male driver, who is a U.S. citizen, he said. An initial investigation shows that the two passengers in the truck may be undocumented immigrants.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement took custody of the two passengers. The driver has been booked into a Maricopa County jail.
