APACHE JUNCTION — A woman who worked at Fry's Food and Drug was arrested Jan. 23 and charged with stealing an estimated $20,000 from her cash drawer.

Cassiopeia Barnes, 34, of Apache Junction was arrested by the Police Department shortly after 4 p.m. on Jan. 23.

According to a probable cause statement, “Defendant was confronted by Fry's Asset Protection about stealing from the register. Defendant admitted to stealing money from the cash register since November 2019. Defendant stated she was responsible for stealing approximately $20,000. Defendant stated the same thing to me after being read Miranda.”

She has no prior arrests or convictions, according to court records, and “still had $200 cash on her person taken from the register that day.”

Barnes was booked into the Pinal County jail and charged with theft. She remains in jail pending the posting of a $5,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear Friday in Superior Court.
