APACHE JUNCTION – The Apache Junction Police Department has received three grants totaling more than $97,000 for traffic and DUI enforcement from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.

The department was awarded a $22,112 grant from the governor’s Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program to help cover overtime and purchase additional radar equipment for speed enforcement in the city.

The second grant is for $31,785 and will be used for overtime for officers patrolling for motorists who may be driving under the influence and for additional portable breath testers.

The last grant is worth $43,830 and will be used to purchase a police motorcycle with the equipment needed for traffic enforcement.
